When I dropped my son off at my mother-in-law's house this morning, she said "so what do you think about the election?" I just smiled and said "I am thrilled." It was even more satisfying when my sister-in-law, who has a McCain-Palin sticker on her car, proceeded to throw me a dirty look.
I've never been so proud to be an American as I am today.
That graphic up there is stellar, Scott. Revolution, by the people and for the people.
My 13-year-old son, born to a Mexican father and an American mother and raised by a single parent in very challenging circumstances at times, turned to me at breakfast this morning and told me "that's me up there, Mom. Really, that's me. Obama is my story, and I have a new hero." Cue the waterfall of tears once again. They haven't stopped in about 10 hours.
My pride in being an American - which has been absent for quite some time - has been renewed.
I laughed, a good laugh. As we are aware I was a McCain guy, but I am proud that my country spoke, and I'm happy to be wrong. I will give Obama my full support until he proves to me otherwise, we can't afford to hate our president for 4 years after 8 years of hate. I will watch with a critical eye, and with understanding that no one is perfect, and no president is either. I will say that Obama winning Iowa proves that this was based on merit NOT race.
I was wondering if you'd comment, kapy, and I appreciate that you did. The fact that you're not only accepted your candidate's loss but are willing to give the victor a shot is what this country needs. I hope President Obama will live up to your expectations.
Thanks Scott. I will watch closely to Obama, as we all should to all our elected officals, to make sure they stay in line. I do have hope for our country, and I am more proud that people voted and went out there and changed stuff for once. The power of democracy is great, and that's the beauty of it. I want with all my heart for my lifetime to have a president that gets stuff done, and helps people do what needs to be done.

Here's hoping Obama proves me wrong.

I'm Canadian and I've gotta say, even I am relieved to see some change coming to the United States. Best wishes from my country to yours :)

This picture made me smile. It is now my wallpaper. Thank you, sir!
