Texas Schmexas
There is something to be said about Texas. Actually, after yesterday in Dallas I personally have a few choice words to say about the state but I'm not sure they're appropriate for this blog in particular. What I can say is the sun is a lot more intense in the lone star state than good 'ol Cleveland, so thank you texas for allowing me to turn an intense shade of red regardless of how many times I reapplied my SPF 45.
After a long hot day of sitting right by the Route 66 stage yesterday it was time to beat the heat with an amazing party. If you caught the video footage then you're already up to speed here. Last night AP and Bed Head put on a PunxDirtySecret.com party. Everyone from the tour went and had a blast just drinking and dancing. Guest DJ's from Forever the Sickest Kids, The Pinker Tones, and Every Time I Die kept everyone moving while the Double Wide bar in Dallas kept the drinks flowing.
So as I sit here in our hotel lobby in downtown Austin, all I can think is Texas, we're having a lovers quarrel. Why am I sitting in the lobby and not in my luxury penthouse suite? Well, because we're locked out. Texas has made sure that our room keys no longer work. Here i am with Andria from the Myspace.com tent and Keli from Hellcat Records, with stomachs full of sushi and no beds to nap off the walk *and awesome cab ride* back from shopping. At least not until the engineer comes to let us in.
The only good thing you're doing for me Texas, and even this is still a problem, is now I have to figure out what to do tonight. I could venture down the road to Emo's to join The Bronx and Andrew W. freakin K. in wishing this great nation a big happy birthday. Then again, I do want to jet off to Flamingos Cantina to see the Aggrolites and party my face off with an incredible band.
Life on the road is hard enough as it is. Thanks Texas for making it that much harder.
By the by, if you're going to the San Antonio show tomorrow, come find me and prove to me that Texas is actually awesome, because I'm not sure. Maybe everything IS bigger in Texas, but all I've had so far are bigger headaches here.
