From The Editor''s Floor: Metro Station

They may be fronting one of the hottest up-and-coming bands of the moment, but Mason Musso and Trace Cyrus are regular teens, just like anyone else. And they’ve got the pop culture addictions to prove it. The METRO STATION leaders dish on a few of their favorite things, which didn’t make it into the article. It’s all in the lucky charms, right boys?

TOP THREE GOTTA-HAVE ITEMS RIGHT NOW

MASON MUSSO: The New Order song, “Bizarre Love Triangle,” I’m obsessed with that right now; Italian food, I’m going through an Italian food craving right now; and Arizona Iced Tea.

TRACE CYRUS: I got the sweetest new hat in New York that I’m really loving. It’s this Confederate looking army hat. The album by The-Dream, I’m obsessed with that, so I’ve been listening to that nonstop. And my third thing, I’m really into these Mountain Dew Code Red drinks. I don’t know if you’ve had one of those, but my bus driver got me hooked on them. They’re so good.

THE LUCK OF THE DRAW

MUSSO: I have this Saint Christopher pendant. He’s the patron saint of travel, and I always wear it around my neck every time I play. Along with this metal crown I bought, which I always wear. Those are kind of my two little lucky charms I always put on myself. Along with my belt buckle. I have this little crown buckle….I don’t know why I wear it, but it’s cool. It makes me feel better playing onstage. It makes me feel more comfortable, I guess, which is crazy, but it’s just like, it’s my good luck charm.

CYRUS: I have a necklace that my little, little sister Noah gave me on Christmas of this year, and I haven’t taken it off since. It’s just like an arrowhead necklace on a silver chain. I don’t think I’ve played a single show without it since she gave it to me….I feel naked without it.

SURPRISE, SURPRISE

MUSSO: Most surprising to people? We’re very affectionate with each other. We’ll always give each other hugs and we give each other back massages. We just show each other a lot of love because the road is tough, and we give a lot of love to each other, make each other feel comfortable, you know, just doing men’s stuff.

CYRUS: I don’t know if there’d be something too surprising. We’re crazy, but we’re just normal kids like anyone else, so I don’t know if anything would surprise you too much.

…IF YOU DON’T CUT THAT HAIR

CYRUS: Before I even moved to California, before my sister was even on the show, I started working at Journeys, the shoe store. I worked there in Nashville. Once I moved to California, I was trying to get a new job, and I couldn’t get hired anywhere, so I had to work at Journeys again there. Like a month before we got signed, I got fired from Journeys, and instead of getting a new job, I just kept being like no, we’ve got to do this. We’ve got to get signed soon, and it happened. So, luckily, Journeys was my last bad job. But, before that, my first job was washing dishes at this restaurant in the middle of nowhere in Tennessee. And then, after that, I moved to another restaurant, which was still horrible. I was a cashier, and finally I quit because they were trying to make me cut my hair, and I just couldn’t handle that.
