21-year-old male dies at Pemberton Music Festival

According to a report from Toronto Sun, 21-year-old-male Nick Phongsavath was found dead at Pemberton Music Festival this past Friday afternoon. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team tweeted early Saturday morning, “IHIT team deployed to Pemberton for a suspicious death,” and then later stated, “#IHIT continues to lead suspicious death in Pemberton. Cause of death not yet confirmed. Foul play not confirmed. Will update later today.” Police are still investigating the situation and have not ruled out suspicious activity. Phongsavath was an engineering student at the University Of Regina in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. 

Despite the tragedy, the festival continued on and concluded last night, featuring sets from Outkast, Modest Mouse and many more. 

“We appreciate everyone’s concern about the incident last night on the festival campgrounds. Police are confident that this was an isolated incident and guests are safe and secure. IHIT has confirmed that the deceased is a 21-year old male from out of province.
