5 Seconds Of Summer reminisce on younger selves in "Old Me" lyric video

5 Seconds Of Summer are on a roll this year with the announcement of their upcoming album C A L M and headlining tour, but the band just dropped a new single. “Old Me” off the upcoming LP.

This is the band’s fourth single off the upcoming album. Last year they dropped “Easier” and 13 Reasons Why‘s Teeth.”

Earlier this month, the Aussies dropped “No Shame,” and announced the release date for their upcoming record.

“For a band to make it to four albums is no small feat in itself,” lead vocalist Luke Hemmings says in a statement. “But to be reinventing and constantly pushing our songwriting and to come out with music that we’ve never been more proud of makes me so happy to be in 5 Seconds of Summer.”

“C A L M speaks on a journey through a young man’s life, for better or for worse. We are all human and all make mistakes, sometimes we hurt the ones we love and inevitably, ourselves in the process. C A L M leaves the band in a much happier, unified and calm state of mind to continue making albums for years to come.”

“No Shame” is an upbeat groove and perfectly shows off the band’s continuing growth. In the music video, we see Hemmings fake his own death, a brutal car crash and a brand new car. Not particularly in that order and certainly not with that plain of context.

Now, the band have dropped yet another single, and this one is really touching.

The band announced the track two days before it’s release.

The day before “Old Me’s” release, they shared a collage of photos of the band’s younger selves.

The group even changed their profile picture to a photo of their younger selves. We’re guessing it was taken back when the band first started since it looks like Michael Clifford still hadn’t started dying his hair yet.

Hemmings says the track serves as a way for the band to reminisce on growing up and how they helped each other when they first started getting famous.

“‘Old Me’ carries a youthful spirit and follows the narrative of a young persons life growing up, for better or for worse,” he says in a statement. “Every decision we made, whether right or wrong, has led us to the men we are proud to be today. We were thrown into the public eye at a young age and gratefully had each other at a confusing time. Sometimes it’s important we look back in order to appreciate the journey we’ve been on together.”

The touching lyric video features photos of the band when they were younger as well as clips from some of their performances on stage. Check out the imagery below!

The band formed in 2011, and got their big break when One Direction took them on tour as support in 2013 even though they didn’t release their debut studio album until 2014. Almost ten years later, the band has gained a massive following with many fans who have been there since the beginning.

Fans on Twitter are expressing their gratitude for the track through tears and heartfelt sentiments.

The track is available to purchase and stream here.
