Sex-O Olympic-O

[4/5]

Al Jourgensen claims that Sex-O Olympic-O is the best album he’s ever made with any of his projects. Whether it is indeed a better record than Ministry’s Psalm 69 is arguable, but Sex-O is certainly the most satisfying album he’s produced with RevCo. It’s little wonder that Jourgensen is so proud: Every song is a sonic fist in the face, the perfect combination of electronica, complete with pulsing beats and industrial death riffs. “HookerBot3000” kicks off the record perfectly, the lyrics educating the listener about the kind of robot never seen on Lost In Space. First single “I’m Not Gay” is hypnotic, though the chorus is heavy enough to catch you off-guard on first listen. Ultimately, Sex-O Olympic-O is a celebration of hedonism and glorious excess, given Jourgensen’s sadistic twist. What more do you want? (13TH PLANET; thirteenthplanet.com) Brett Callwood
