Reel Big Fish - Fame Fortune & Fornication

Reel Big Fish

Fame Fortune & Fornication

A decade ago, Reel Big Fish struck gold when they contributed their rendition of A-ha’s “Take On Me” to the soundtrack of Baseketball. From that point forward, RBF have incorporated covers into their live set, which are usually met with enthusiasm. For fans who can’t throw out their old wingtips, RBF do justice to Edna’s Goldfish’s “Veronica Sawyer,” Desmond Dekker’s “Keep A Cool Head” and Toots And The Maytals’ “Monkey Man.” “Brown Eyed Girl” adds RBF to the laundry list of other bands who’ve covered the Van Morrison standard. It seems schizophrenic to include some guilty-pleasure glam rock like Slade’s “Mama We’re All Crazy Now” and not one, but two Poison covers, but hey: This is ska. Everyone who listens to this genre stopped taking themselves seriously after Baseketball was released on DVD.
