[3/5] You can tell from his solo debut’s a cappella opener, “I Wish I Was Back In Liverpool,” that the Tossers’ Tony Duggins seems to be taking the disc’s title literally: Undone indeed sounds just that, with the songs’ homespun feel finding good company in Duggins’ raw, throaty delivery. Throughout this set of 13 covers, originals and traditionals, Duggins is at his most cautious when trading prose with Meghan Yeates on a fantastic rendition of Bob Dylan’s “Boots Of Spanish Leather” and his coarsest on a cover of the Pogues’ “The Broad Majestic Shannon,” but on “Jimmy Wilson,” he picks up the pace, propping a sprightly ensemble behind his imposing vocals. Although it’s more trad-sounding than the Tossers’ usual repertoire, fans of authentic Irish punk should have no trouble raising their pint glasses to Undone.
