During this extra emotional episode from State Farm and Urie, we see Brendon as he’s reunited with his old high school music teacher, who he credits as one of the “main reasons” he’s in the position that he’s in today.
He credits Matta for being a major influence in his life, which he goes on to explain, is something that everyone needs in their life, saying:
“Richard Matta is one of the main reasons I am here today. He taught me everything when I thought I knew nothing, and that made every difference. It’s so important to have those people around you…Everybody needs somebody to show you that the things that you’re passionate about and the things that you really love to do can create who you are.”
That admiration isn’t a one-way street, as Matta also had nothing but love for Urie, saying: “he was enthusiasm. He brought energy into everything, and he made it fun.”
The two go on to discuss their connection with one another, where Urie shared that Matta helped him (and the other kids) build up a confidence that they didn’t have before. Urie then went on to share that having that connection with his teacher “made all the difference.”
While this moment has our hearts swelling, that wasn’t the only thing that was discussed in this week’s episode.
Urie also mentioned his foundation, the Highest Hopes Foundation, will be collaborating with State Farm and Notes For Notes will be building a professional recording studio for the Boys and Girls Club of Las Vegas.
