Gerard Way talks “Dasher” lyric video, shares kind words of Lydia Night
Last Friday, Gerard Way dropped the holiday-infused heart-plucker, “Dasher.” Just in time for whatever it is you celebrate, the track perfectly details the emotions encompassing the feeling of being far away from loved ones during the holiday season.
Directed by Aaron Hymes, Way applauds the video’s aura and trueness to the track. Additionally, Way shouts out the Regrettes Lydia Night for her spoken-word contribution.

“I find this video to be very moving, and I love the direction and the powerful moments that happen in it,” Way says of the video. “Also, some people have been asking about the spoken word part of the song. That was done by Lydia Night from @theregrettesband and it was so wonderful to have her amazing voice in the song. I find her bit to be haunting yet kind and personal.”

Additionally, “Dasher” was supposedly supposed to appear on Way’s solo album Hesitant Alien in 2014. However, the song remained unfinished. Instead, Way only performed the track live.

Gerard Way’s song “Dasher” is the third song in a much-appreciated string of releases. Following “Getting Down With The Germs” and “Baby, You’re A Haunted House,” “Dasher” puts a bow on top of the entire package.
Released in November, “Getting Down With The Germs” features former My Chemical Romance bandmate Ray Toro (bass, drums). Additionally, the track includes an exceptional flute solo from Sara Andon.
“I had really been wanting a song that featured the flute prominently for quite some time,” Way says.
“It sits in there perfectly, like it was made to pay the song a visit,” he continues. “The whole song reminds me of wiggling, squiggling, wormy germs. It’s a very calm affair that shows a peek into where I may be heading musically. I hope you enjoy it. It was fun to make.”

“Baby, You’re A Haunted House” was Way’s first track since 2017’s Record Store Day release “Into the Cave We Wander,” which also features Toro.
