Former Rollins Band drummer Jason Mackenroth passes away at 46

Jason Mackenroth, former drummer of Rollins Band and solo artist, passed last Sunday in Henderson, NV after a four year battle with prostate cancer. He was 46 years old.

There will be a memorial service later this month, and there are talks for a potential benefit concert later this year. A GoFundMe has been set up to aid Mackenroth’s wife, Janet “Jaye” and sons Javan and Joren with expenses.

Mackenroth served as the Rollins Band drummer from 1998 to 2004, which included eight albums and four world tours. Mother Superior, Mackenroth’s band that formed in 1989, was noticed by Henry Rollins, who went on to produce two of their albums and ask three members to join his band. Mackenroth left Rollins Band and began his solo outfit Mack that went on release two albums, a self-titled and Pay To Play. He then went on to spend eight years with the Blue Man Group at the Las Vegas production.

Mackenroth also contributed to music education by teaching private lessons and performing at 2014 KISS Night in Las Vegas, which benefited the music education nonprofit Imagine.
