Young and Heartless drop new song "Punch Drunk (LOA)" (exclusive)
Pennsylvania quartet Young and Heartless (Hopeless Records) teamed up with AltPress to bring you an exclusive premiere of the track “Punch Drunk (LOA)” from their upcoming album, Stay Away.
“'Punch Drunk' was inspired by a seemingly never-ending staircase/labyrinth found in Danielewski’s 'House of Leaves,' in which the characters are convinced the staircase is leading to somewhere, but all that is found is identical rooms and anticlimactic surprises,” vocalist/guitarist Jeremy Henninger explains. “In essence, the song describes dealing with the simplicity and brevity of life while desperately trying to appear calm and cool. Fear that your life is leaving you quicker than you would like, while giving pieces of yourself away, hoping to seem normal.”
The band is set to release their new album on March 25. The band released the following statement of their latest effort:
“Our new album Stay Away is an emotional rabbit-hole and writing it as well as listening to it now, we continually find ourselves in a different place than we expected. It compliments our past, but as a whole it was a radical change in our songwriting. Working with Will Yip was a pleasure; he is nothing short of a visionary. Not only did he work with us to create a great sounding album, he believed in the entire project.”
