There has been a lot of arguing and speculation over Guardians of The Galaxy's beloved character, Groot. *Spoilers ahead!*

Director James Gunn finally shed some light on the Groot situation. The Twitter feud got heated after fans continued bugging Gunn about the certainty of Groot's character.
Look the death is implied but not guaranteed. This is an assumption.
You know what happens when you assume? You GET A THINKPIECE.A THINKPIECE, GUNN!
A THINKPIECEEEEEEE

It's guaranteed! You can save one means the other one is NOT SAVED. You murdered Groot for a big-eyed pigeon.

But you can grow Groot back, as evidenced in your film. Once you kill a porg, it’s gone.

First Groot is dead. Baby Groot is his son.

Look let's be real, we all knew this but none of us wanted to believe it's true. https://t.co/9Y7kJxMpaG

Some fans refuse to believe that this is Groot's fate, but Gunn continues to shut down fans with very real proof.
The internet is like Groundhog Day every time I point out first Groot died. Baby Groot has a different personality, a different body, no memories of adult Groot & adult Groot’s sacrifice actually meant something. New round of news stories & collective gasping again & again. https://t.co/gvx7c0g2fF

And there we have it folks, Baby Groot is indeed a new (son of) Groot, so lets embrace him and love him just as much as we loved the original Groot from the first Guardians film.
RIP GROOT – GONE BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN.
