Her scorching first performance of “Bad At Love” saw the alt-pop singer cavorting with her backup dancers, both male and female, while owning the stage. “Him & I” was slightly more toned down, showing a voyeuristic window shot of the singer with her IRL sweetheart, G-Easy, kissing her neck, backed up by a string orchestra.

Needless to say, fans were loving Halsey, and praising the singer for her consistency and unapologetic narratives:
The best part about SNL in many years is that a woman who fiercefully guided her entire career into success brought her man onto the show & not the other way around. #HalseyOnSNL #HimAndI #GEazy ✨

The best thing about @halsey is that she is so CONSISTENT with her looks, themes, vision.
Each performance fits into the story of the bigger picture. #HalseyOnSNL— Johnny Bravo’s cousin (@GordyyB) January 14, 2018
