The 1975 reveal why their new album is going to be called ‘Music For Cars’
We’re anxiously awaiting the 1975’s return with their new (and final?) album, and Matty Healy has revealed why they’re naming the record after one of their previous EPs.

“Music For Cars was an EP named for our love for Brian Eno,” Healy revealed to NME. “We’re using it as the album title now because of how meta and self-referential everything has become in the world of The 1975, and Music For Cars was always my favorite title of everything we’d ever done, so it kinda made sense to wrap it up that way.”
The band officially announced their third album back in April, but even that caused confusion for fans. Music For Cars is the same title as the band's third EP, which was released in March 2013 and featured “Anobrain,” “Chocolate,” “HNSCC,” “Head.Cars.Bending” and “Me.”
Healy has said previously that this record will be the end of an era for the band: “It’s always been called that and we were always going to do a trilogy of records. I’m not saying that after this record it’s the end of The 1975 but it’s definitely the end of an era.”
And earlier this month, without a proper announcement, the band released what one might assume to be a new song, “Milk,” which fans know is not a new song—but a remastered version of the track that has been hidden in their song “You.”

So does this mean the band will be continuing to share these blasts from the past with their newest record? We’re not sure. But all we can say is that we appreciate “Milk” as a standalone track, and we’re anxiously awaiting to hear more news on Music For Cars soon.
Whatever the 1975 have coming, we’re ready for the ride. Healy previously discussed the return of Drive Like I Do, with a record set for release “during spring time in the coming few years.”
The band’s second album, I Like It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It, dropped in February 2016.
