What if deathcore sounded happy?

YouTuber Steve Terreberry makes some pretty hilarious/awesome metal videos. (You probably remember his Super Mario Bros. djent video.) In his latest upload, he asks the question: What if deathcore sounded happy instead of heavy?

In the video below, Terreberry rips through a deathcore song and then changes the scales and tuning to make it sound happy. “I’m playing it in a higher registry so we don’t get the depth or heaviness that deathcore usually relies on,” he says.
