A Perfect Circle confirm they’ll tour North America for the first time in six years

As one of the seminal acts of the 2000’s, A Perfect Circle compelled many with their avant-garde approach to rock and roll thanks to their stellar rotating cast. And now you’ll have the chance to see them live around the United States for the first time since 2011.

First spoken by frontman Maynard James Keenan at an interview moderated by fellow founding member and guitarist Billy Howerdel, the two stated that the band would be touring next year, and the first show would be taking place in their hometown of Los Angeles at the Hollywood Bowl on May 7.

The band confirmed earlier today on Facebook that there will be a full North American tour this Spring that will be announced soon, and it will be their first in six years. The band played a handful of festivals in the early years since, but has been inactive for the past few altogether.

A Perfect Circle’s two founding members, Tool frontman and lead singer Maynard James Keenan, and song composer and Ashes Divide leader Billy Howerdel, have also been actively working on new music for A Perfect Circle over the past few years, but it is unsure if this will also mean a new album.

The other current rotating members of the band include Smashing Pumpkins guitarist James Iha, and bassist Matt McJunkins and drummer Jeff Friedl, who both play for Keenan and Howerdel’s other side projects, Puscifer and Ashes Divide respectively.

A Perfect Circle has featured a number of big names over the years, including Troy Van Leeuwen of Queens Of The Stone Age, Paz Lenchantin of Pixies, and former drummers Timothy Alexander of Primus and Josh Freese, who’s played with Paramore among others, and currently plays with the Vandals and Devo.

The band has also recently announced major festival dates during the World’s Loudest Month, including appearances at Welcome To Rockville, Fort Rock, and Carolina Rebellion.

A Perfect Circle seem to be ready for action in 2017, and that will be cool to see for fans who have been craving their music for a while now. Their last releases came in 2013, when they put out a live album, Stone And Echo: Live At Red Rocks and a greatest hits compilation titled Three Sixty, which came with their only new track, “By And Down.” It’ll be nice to see such an iconic supergroup back on the road next year.
