You won’t be shocked by who Alice Cooper thinks should play him in a film
In a recent interview, Cooper revealed that he thinks Depp would be a perfect choice to play him if they ever made an Alice Cooper film.
Biopics about musicians have achieved a great amount of commercial and critical success lately. Hopefully, that paves the way for more. Bohemian Rhapsody actor Rami Malek won an Oscar for Best Actor for his portrayal of Queen's Freddie Mercury. Taron Egerton took home the Golden Globe for Best Actor In A Motion Picture—Musical Or Comedy for his performance as Elton John in 2019's Rocketman.
Straight Outta Compton depicted the rise and fall of N.W.A. and was a massive commercial and critical success as well. It was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay and was chosen by the National Board of Review as one of the top ten films of 2015.
There has been an influx of people wanting true stories. This has led to these movies being popular as well as the success of documentaries like Netflix's Tiger King, Mindhunter and Making A Murderer.
So, while an Alice Cooper biopic is not in the works (at least not that anyone knows of) it is fun to speculate who could play the "shock rock" king. Cooper himself has even thought about it and thinks Johnny Depp would be perfect. If you're not going to go big, you might as well go home, right?
In a recent interview with Yahoo! Entertainment, Alice Cooper told about his Depp dreams and even made fun of him along the way. He joked that he hopes he doesn't have to die before a biopic is made about him.
"I hope it's not of those where we get to die first," Alice Cooper laughed. "Usually it's gonna happen with bands that were extremely commercially successful, whereas Alice was successful and we sold a lot of records, but I did not appeal to everybody. I was definitely on the darker side. And I think that it would make a great movie, myself."
"And if Johnny Depp were just better looking, he could play me. Johnny would be the best guy to play me, because he really likes to take those characters that nobody else wants to play. And he loves prosthetics — he would get my nose in there and the whole thing like that. He knows me well enough now where he could imitate me pretty well, I'm pretty sure."
