All That Remains’ Oli Herbert had drugs in system at time of death

A toxicology report reveals that unprescribed anti-depressants and sleep aids were in Oli Herbert‘s body when he drowned in a nearby pond last month. The report states that drowning is the All That Remains guitarist’s official cause of death, not overdose.

The now widowed Beth Herbert took to the Official Oli Herbert Page on Facebook this morning to share updates of the guitarist’s passing. Beth shared that unprescribed medications may be to blame for the guitarist’s actions on the evening of his death. 

“Oli was apparently self-treating for manic-depression that has run in his family for several generations,” she says in the Facebook post. “Anti-depressants were found in his system, as well as a sleep aid. The psych meds found in his system were the same ones that a close relative has been prescribed for a long time, so he knew what to hunt down for the “treatment”. Seeing how he was not going (and WOULDN’T GO) to a doctor to get diagnosed with the issue and was not being prescribed the medications and monitored on them, it explains his occasional erratic behavior here at home.”

A comment on the post asked Beth how the toxicology results explain his location at the time of death. She responded saying that the side effects of the drugs found in his system include hallucinogenic effects and restlessness.

“One of the drugs can have a hallucinogenic effect, also restlessness,” Beth says. “Oli kept wanting to go outside that night before he disappeared and he kept walking towards the pond, which is a pitch black part of our property as well as very slippery.. Add to that fact that it was raining that evening. Apparently he left the house after I went to bed so I couldn’t stop him and bring him back inside.”

While the family finally has some closure, the case is still under investigation. Beth urges friends, family and fans to notify Connecticut State Police, Troop C, in Tolland, CT if they have any information regarding where Herbert could have been getting the medication.

Additionally, the Facebook post addresses the cancelation of Herbert’s memorial service. Threats made against Beth’s personal safety and home lead to the event’s cancelation.
