All-female 'Ghostbusters' cast revealed

So that’s who they’re going to call.

According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, Sony’s all-female reboot of Ghostbusters has found its stars.

Melissa McCarthy, who has been in talks for a leading role, officially signed on to the Paul Feig-directed project. Kristen Wiig, who starred in the Feig-manned Bridesmaids with McCarthy, is also in negotiations, along with Saturday Night Live players Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon.

According to THR, production could start as early as summer 2015 in New York City.

Director Ivan Reitman was signed on to direct a remake featuring original Ghostbusters parapyschologists Dan Akroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson (Bill Murray wouldn’t commit). But Reitman passed on the project after Ramis’ death last year. Now, Feig's moved in a new direction.

The reported cast is a relative who’s who of modern, groundbreaking comedy. McCarthy nabbed her first Oscar nomination for Best Actress in a Supporting Role in Bridesmaids, a smash that proved women could lead a raunchy comedy to box office triumph. Wiig also earned a Academy Award nomination for the film, a Best Original Screenplay nod she shared with co-writer Annie Mumolo.

McKinnon has proved herself one of SNL's breakout stars in recent years, effectively filling the major, Tilly-sized hole left after Wiig’s departure in 2012. In 2014, McKinnon was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress for her work on the sketch series.

Leslie Jones was recently moved to featured player status on SNL this year, after serving as a staff writer during 2014. The stand-up comedian is currently appearing in the Chris Rock-helmed Top Five.
