Which shock rock artist are you most like?

Rock and metal musicians have long been viewed as strange, intriguing and even terrifying by the mainstream, yet some go so far, they get pushed into shock rock. From the days when Elvis Presley was viewed as controversial for his gyrating hips on TV to today, there’s been a lot of change in what shocks people, but musicians such as Marilyn Manson, GWAR, Alice Cooper or Ozzy Osbourne took things to new extremes.

Whether it’s controversial comments in interviews, lewd outfits worn onstage or an action that’s either extremely outside of the norms of society or even criminal, shock-rock musicians bring a level of danger back to rock and metal that’s been lost.

Marilyn Manson was revealed as a guest on HBO’s The New Pope back in May 2019, and after over a half a year of waiting, we finally got to see his role

Manson appears as himself in a new clip with John Malkovich, who plays Pope John Paul III, where the two sit down for a quick chat to catch up with each other.

Last year, it was reported that Manson would be appearing on the show as HBO confirmed him as well as Sharon Stone for guest spots.

In the clip, Manson hands a painting over to Malkovich before accidentally mixing up which pope he’s talking to. He then apologizes due to not keeping track of the news while being in the studio before suggesting Malkovich’s character visit his predecessor, who’s in a coma.

The New Pope airs every Monday at 9 p.m. local time on HBO and can also be streamed on demand via HuluYou can watch the video here.
