'American Horror Story' season 8 title revealed

We’ve visited and attended some pretty awful places during our time with American Horror Story, and it appears that the end of the AHS world is officially here.

Announced today, the title of the show’s monstrous eighth season will be called Apocalypse, a theme that we’re already freaking out over.

The FX horror anthology series made the announcement earlier today (July 20,) by posting a photo of a red demonic-looking baby and a black clawed hand. It’s a pretty terrifying promotional poster, but can we really expect anything else?

Check out the announcement below:

Details of the show’s upcoming crossover season have been kept pretty quiet, but we do know a few details.

The show’s creator Ryan Murphy recently sat with Entertainment Weekly, teasing that the show will not only see the return of familiar faces, but it will be “unlike” anything fans have ever seen from the show.

“You will see so many fan favorites return that you’ll feel like it’s the Love Boat,” Murphy shares. “It’s a very high concept.”

That “high concept” Murphy’s talking about? A crossover between the show’s first and third seasons, meaning fans are finally getting that Murder House and Coven crossover.

We also know that Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Emma Roberts, Kathy Bates, Billie Lourd, Joan Collins, Billy Eichner, Cheyenne Jackson, Adina Porter and Leslie Grossman are set to make their return to the show.

The other Coven witches haven’t been officially confirmed, in a since-deleted tweet from Murphy, all of the witches have been asked to reprise their role. Of course, we’re not entirely sure what that will mean for Taissa Farmiga, who played characters in both Coven and Murder House.

Either way, we’re beyond excited to see what this new season brings.

Be sure to check out American Horror Story: Apocalypse when it makes its on-screen debut Wednesday, Sept. 12 at 10/9C on FX.
