We last heard new music from blink-182 earlier this summer when they releasedQuarantine.” The single was created during coronavirus lockdown and addresses the social and political unrest going on in the world right now.

Prior to the release of “Quarantine” in August, Travis Barker revealed that blink-182 are working on a new EP. They planned to put out the new release by the end of this summer. However, seeing as we are now into fall, it seems like those plans have changed.

“We’re wrapping up what we think will be an EP that hopefully will be out by the end of summer.”

Despite the delayed release, Hoppus confirmed that the blink-182 EP is still happening and that they are working with John Feldmann.

“We’re working on it [the EP] today,” Hoppus said. “Matt is going back into the studio with John today to work on new songs. I think we have a tracklisting, we still need to finish these songs [and] get them mixed. We’re a ways away still, but we are working on it.”

Now, Skiba has offered another update on the forthcoming EP. Last week, he shared that he is working on new material for the release. As well, it looks like the trio may be taking inspiration from past blink-182 albums for the new EP. Skiba says that their new songs remind him of Enema Of The State and Take Off Your Pants and Jacket.

“For now I’m actually working on a new @blink182 song (one of two newies) @markhoppus wrote that are super great and remind me of Enema/Take Off era blinkage. As you were.”

Along with the forthcoming EP, blink-182 plan to put out their collaboration with late rapper Juice WRLD. Barker confirmed the collaboration back in August. However, the song has still not been released.

“There’s a Blink/Juice collaboration that hasn’t come out yet but it’s about to. I think it’ll come out on a Blink project,” Barker said.”We just got in and did that song together. It didn’t make the last album, but I think it’s going to live on in a couple of other places. It’s amazing. I’m just thankful that there’s more Juice music coming out.”

For those wanting to reminisce about blink-182’s old eras, Tom DeLonge has you covered. The Angels & Airwaves frontman recently revealed that his time in blink-182 has inspired some of the material in his new sci-fi film Monsters Of California.

As well, Hoppus reflected back on Enema Of The State for Less Than Jake‘s Chris DeMakes podcast. He shared that the iconic opening riff to “What’s My Age Again?” came to be after he tried to learn a classic Green Day song.
