On this week's “Note To Self,” Andy Black opens up on the difficulty of self-identifying before he entered high school.

“I was in a junior high right in the wake of Columbine,” Black opens up. “We were unable to wear black clothing, we were unable to even talk about bands.”

Later, he was able to enter a performing-arts high school and finally was able to express himself, joking that his eyeshadow always matched his shoe color.
