BeansOnToast-2013

Video Premiere: Beans On Toast, "Beer And A Burger" (live from Atlantic Studios)

It's been a big year for UK songsmith Beans On Toast, who completed his first U.S. tour this year, supporting Frank Turner as well as playing not one, but two sets at Bonnaroo.

As fall approaches, we check in with Beans (real name Jay McAllister) to debut his performance from Atlantic Studios in New York, which was filmed while he was on tour with FT and to hear about the year's adventures and what is next.

In the below statement, McAllister told us a little bit more about the song he performs here and what he's up to right now:

“The song 'Beer And A Burger' is a lament for the English pub. Pubs are a huge part of English community and a glue that holds a nation together, and tears it apart at the same time. In recent times English pubs and pub culture is on the decline with family-run businesses being replaced with bland corporate drinking establishments. It's a sorry sign of the times. Sometimes I worry about it…when I'm not getting pissed.*

At the moment I'm slap bang in the middle of my biggest Summer to date. After returning from my amazing trip Stateside its been back to back festivals, and it'll be that way until Bestival in September. Recently I was master of ceremonies at the Gentlemen of The Road Stopover show in Lewes, singing tunes and introducing bands such as Mumford and Sons, Vampire Weekend and Edwards Sharpe. Quite a weekend, I must say.

Somewhere along the way I joined a pyrotechnic circus rave band and made this tune.

Once the Festivals are over I'm heading down to Bristol to record my fifth studio album, which will be released in December after a fuck-off massive tour of the U.K..

As for next year, I just wanna come back to the USA. I miss you guys.

Love Beans x”
