Chad Gilbert gives tips on how to record music efficiently

Chad Gilbert, the guitarist of New Found Glory, shares his tips for efficient recording in this video, which is part of the Ernie Ball PLAY Warped Tour Series.

Gilbert says he uses a voice memo app on his phone to record ideas as they arise. “I could be walking around a supermarket, singing into my phone,” he says.

From these voice memos, Gilbert and the rest of the band get together and get basic ideas formed before getting into the studio. Then, they use their studio time as efficiently as possible, for new ideas and fine-tuning. “We like more of a room sound, a live sound. Real amps, real drums, mics,” he says. “[We leave] messups here and there, so it doesn't sound perfect.”
