Crown The Empire reflect on 'The Resistance'

Crown The Empire released their deluxe album, The Resistance Revisited today and shared the experience of putting it together with APTV.

Previous to developing The Resistance Revisited, the band had plans to put out a new record but decided to scrap the songs and reinvent their previous album. “[We did it] in order to basically put something out—we didn’t want us to just fall away—bands are coming in and out so fast that if you you’re not constantly having that stream of something happening people will forget about you in a heart beat,” says Andrew Velasquez

The deluxe album features new and revived songs, such as “Machines Reimagined,” where they’ve torn down the structure and recreated the song. “I feel like a lot of people are going to take that as one of those things that we’re trying to change our sound,” says Dave Escamilla. “It’s really not that, it’s more of us discovering ourselves as artists and musicians.”

They go on to explain that they only had one month to write The Resistance and felt the experience of recording the original album was hectic. “It’s hard to be creative when people are expecting so much from you,” says Escamilla.

Now that their sound has matured and the were able to spend more time developing the deluxe album, they were able to return to The Resistance and amp up the original songs
