Neck Deep explain ‘Life’s Not Out To Get You’ artwork

With the unique artwork on their album Life’s Not Out To Get You drastically differing from their previous albums, Neck Deep explained to APTV how they came to decide on their latest artwork.

“I wanted something a bit more hand-drawn,” said vocalist Ben Barlow. “Slightly more abstract.”

Ultimately their vision led them to the UK-based artist Ricardo Cavolo, known for his handcrafted aesthetic and consistent use of fire and excess eyeballs. “We told him the title of the album and that was pretty much it,” says Barlow.

“He literally sent it and we were stoked about it,” adds bassist Fil Thorpe-Evans.

The artwork depicts “Jude”—named by Barlow—who must make his way through a wasteland and along the way encounters monsters, beasts and the face of death.

“You’re going to have a bunch of shit—you’re going to go through some terrible stuff and you’re going to have to push through it,” explains Barlow.—Jake Hanson
