Long before Spotify and Apple Music allowed you to stream any song at any time, the NOW That’s What I Call Music! series proffered perfect playlists for the best middle school slumber parties, soundtracks for spin the bottle and became physical format mainstays in Discmans and oversized CD wallets worldwide. Despite the advent of the streaming age, the NOW! series is still going strong and released its 65th edition of the U.S. series in February.

Although NOW That’s What I Call Music! is primarily known as a compilation for pop music and Top 40 fare, its back catalog is ripe with scene gems, pop-punk anthems and classics of the emo persuasion. Any compilation that puts Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran on the same tracklisting as Black Veil Brides is all right in our book.
