In Remembrance: Johnny "Dizzy" Moore of the Skatalites

Johnny "Dizzy" Moore, trumpeter and founding member of the Skatalites, has passed away at 70 after a long battle with cancer.

Moore formed the Skatalites with saxophonists Roland Alphonso and Tommy McCook and trombonist Don Drummond in 1964. The Jamaican act were largely responsible for popularizing the first ska movement.

Moore was also notable for playing stints with Bob Marley & the Wailers, as well as Lee "Scratch" Perry.

Our condolences go out to Moore’s family, friends and fans.
