Jeremy Enigk discusses new "heavier rock" album

Jeremy Enigk recently discussed the making of his newest album, OK Bear.

The former Sunny Day Real Estate frontman recorded the album just outside Barcelona, Spain, with a group of local musicians. "These guys are Sunny Day Real Estate fans," he mentions, "and the moment they got their hands on my songs, whether they were mellow or not, they turned them into heavy rockers.

"This is probably the first time I’ve ever dabbled with a country feel," adds Enigk. "Because it’s me, it doesn’t sound like a country song too much, but you can hear the influence."

OK Bear is slated for a February 2009 release on Enigk’s Lewis Hollow label.

Enigk is currently on a solo tour in support of last year’s new material / acoustic collection, The Missing Link. It’s said he’s playing several new songs from OK Bear as well as "precious few" SDRE songs.
