Feist/Ben Gibbard, Spoon, Arcade Fire on AIDS benefit album

The Decemberists, Iron & Wine, Spoon, Arcade Fire and a number of other notable indie-pop and rock artists have recorded new and exclusive songs for a double-disc benefit album.


The 30-track Dark Was The Night was curated by the National’s Dessner brothers and also features Cat Power, the New Pornographers, My Morning Jacket, Grizzly Bear, Sufjan Stevens, Andrew Bird and several collaborations like Feist / Death Cab For Cutie’s Ben Gibbard and Dirty Projectors / ex-Talking Heads’ David Byrne among others.


The compilation has been in the works since 2006, and proceeds will go towards the Red Hot organization’s work with AIDS research. It’s due out February 17th via Beggars Banquet.
