Following the release of their self-titled fifth studio album this month, Asking Alexandria are debuting a stripped down, acoustic version of the contemplative track “Into The Fire.”

Returning vocalist Danny Worsnop recently told AP the song, which was his first with the band in five years, is about shining light on the dark parts of your life and having faith that you’re on the right path.

“It’s uncomfortable that you know you’re always going to find things about yourself that you don’t like—especially when you’re a person like me, and you’re fucked up in the head,” he shares. “There’s always parts that I wish weren’t there, and I wish weren’t me, but it’s part of who I am and what I am. The song is about finding ways to take those bad things about myself, those character flaws, those mental problems and somehow turn them into a good thing.”

The scaled back version of the song allows the lyrics take the spotlight.

"I've come to terms with the fact I'll never change/And that's just fine, I find solace in the pain/I don't mind the darkness, it's easy on the eyes/I'm praying for something to make me feel alive," Worsnop sings.

While the track is serious in subject matter, the video, filmed by Sanjay Parikh, shows the band enjoying some lighthearted fun in the studio.

“I feel like this video perfectly captures the incredible amount of fun the five of us had creating this album,” says lead guitarist and backing vocalist Ben Bruce. “It’s been an incredible journey, and once again, we are just getting started!”
