The fan asked: “Will you still be writing with @omandm for the new album or is it all them?”

Carlile replied: “No I will no longer be writing with them, one of the reasons I left. They weren't going to let me write what I wanted on next record. That's not gonna happen. I will write what I want despite what that means giving up.”

On Dec. 30, 2016, Carlile announced his departure from Of Mice & Men. Aaron Pauley, Alan Ashby, Phil Manansala and Valentino Arteaga are continuing as a four-piece.

“The band will now still continue on just the four of them, and I wish them the best of luck without me heading into 2017,” Carlile said in his statement on the departure.

He also shared that he will continue to play music.

“I will be here in Costa Rica, where I have now moved, continuing to heal, rest, and write. I will not stop playing music, I am still able to sing and I’m hungry for what is next to come even though I have no idea what that may be.”
