Baby Yoda real name is so secret that Disney CEO needs extra security

Disney CEO Bob Iger recently discussed the newest internet sensation, Baby Yoda. In the interview, Iger reveals he knows the name of the Star Wars internet phenomenon and that calling him Baby Yoda is a no-no.

Keeping the name such a closely guarded secret might hint that there is some significance to The Child and its role in the Star Wars universe.

In a recent interview with Time, Disney CEO Bob Iger discusses all manner of things Disney. The most interesting part is his brief dialogue on the topic of The Child.

Iger reveals that The Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau is not too fond of those that call The Child Baby Yoda.

“We don’t refer to the Child or the Asset the way that the world is referring to the Child or the Asset. Baby Yoda, that’s a no-no,” Iger says. “I got chastised, in my early emails to Jon Favreau, I referenced in my emails Baby Yoda.”

“It just seemed easy, and I got my wrist slapped by Jon a few times. ‘It’s not Baby Yoda!’ I think people really want to know, what’s its name?” Iger continues. “What’s its real name? I know its real name and it’s one of the reasons that I have extra security now because I don’t want to be given some kind of truth serum by someone.”

So what does it mean? If Iger needs extra security the name of Baby Yoda must carry a least a little bit of weight. The secrecy also explains the lack of toys and merchandise with The Asset. Iger says that if they ran a line of products featuring The Child, then the universe would have known about its existence. Disney didn’t want to spoil the surprise.

The final episode of The Mandalorian airs on Disney+ Dec. 27. Perhaps we will learn Baby Yoda’s name then. What do you think the name of The Child is? Sound off below!
