Flint, MI-based Baggage have released The Good That Never Comes, a three-song EP. What's special? All profits made this month are going directly to those affected by the Flint Water Crisis.

“At the end of the month we’ll be taking the money and shopping for the most cost effective way to fill our van with goods and dropping it off to the Bethel United Methodist Church in Flint where they have a donation station for residents,” Baggage's Jonathan Diener explains.

“The money won’t be going to some organization that has millions of dollars saved up, this is going directly to a cause where we know it will be taken care of. “

Diener explains that the band have been writing a full-length, but decided to put that on hold to release The Good That Never Comes, which features two new songs and their song featured on the Music For Everyone ACLU benefit comp.

He shared a statement, which you can read in full below, talking about the mentality behind the release and what they're hoping to do in support of the residents of Flint.

“Although the title seems very pessimistic, it may be the furthest thing from the theme of this release. It chronicles a change in perception from negativity to realistic, positive thinking,” Diener says.

He explains that while filming the video for “Half Full,” the band did a water drive and when dropping it off, discovered that families need more than just water—they needed the daily supplies to get by day to day.

And that’s what they’re set to help do with The Good That Never Comes.

We’ve been hard at work for a long time writing a full length, but the more we talked about it, the more we were too excited to make you wait for new music. This EP contains two brand new songs plus a song featured on the ACLU benefit comp Music For Everyone.

Although the title seems very pessimistic, it may be the furthest thing from the theme of this release. It chronicles a change in perception from negativity to realistic, positive thinking. “The Good That Never Comes,” kicks things off with a tale of me dealing with physical and mental health problems including severe nerve damage and anxiety. I had to take charge to change and save my life rather than sitting around waiting for things to get better. I take that mindset into, “Staring At The Wing” where I compare my past and my present and how things really are getting better, even if they seem grim at times. Finally in, “Half Full” I sit back and look at humanity. Despite the terrible things going on around the world, I think of the good in people’s hearts and remember the most important thing for progress: hope.

Speaking of hope, our band continues to do what we can for our community in one way or another. While filming the video for, “Half Full” we did a water drive and filled our van with cases of water for those affected by the Flint Water Crisis. When dropping it off we were told that they were fine on water, but simple things like toiletries, diapers, baby wipes and other cleanliness items were scarce and that’s what Flint residents really needed. I figured what better time than now to raise money for this kind of direct cause.

With that said, this release is a PAY WHAT YOU WANT download and ALL of the money from this month is going directly into getting toiletries for Flint Water Crisis victims. At the end of the month we’ll be taking the money and shopping for the most cost effective way to fill our van with goods and dropping it off to the Bethel United Methodist Church in Flint where they have a donation station for residents. The money won’t be going to some organization that has millions of dollars saved up, this is going directly to a cause where we know it will be taken care of.

Thank you for supporting our band. We hope you enjoy the songs. As always, we hope what we do inspires you to do the same. This isn’t patting ourselves on the back, this is letting you know that YOU can do it too. Together we can make a difference.

Treat people like people again.
