Did Balenciaga just reinvent the Canadian tuxedo?

Haute Couture Week is in full swing, and Balenciaga‘s Wednesday morning show saw big names in the audience as well as on the runway.

Kim Kardashian, Dua Lipa, Naomi Campbell and more walked the halls of the original couture salon wearing some of the brand’s most avant-garde designs.

The show began with an assemblage of models wearing shining, inky masks slowly parading through the tight space. Their clothing, in a similarly haunting fashion, toyed with the concepts of constrainedly deep blacks, bending light, contrasting colors and lending form to the formless.

One exceedingly eye-grabbing model wore an elevated Canadian tuxedo. Its collar extended above the masked wearer’s head, and the pants become a thin skirt that trailed on the ground behind them.

Some of the collection’s most striking pieces were reserved for the stars who graced the runway. Kardashian modeled a form-fitting ebony dress whose hem flirted with the idea of becoming a train. Conversely, Campbell was dressed in a mass of conflicting geometries — a great triangular bodice that expanded into an even larger orb of a skirt.

Among the attendants were Alexa Demie, Tracee Ellis Ross, OffsetKris Jenner and North West wearing an all-black streetwear ensemble.
