beabadoobee launches brand-new EP alongside “Cologne” video—watch

beabadoobee stars in a mini action movie in the cinematic visual for “Cologne,” off her freshly released EP Our Extended Play via Dirty Hit.

Co-written and produced by the 1975’s Matty Healy and George Daniel, the four-track EP’s release comes ahead of beabadoobee’s appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon this Friday.

The EP opens with the previously released “Last Day On Earth,” a nostalgic track about wishing you could re-live a day over again. After “Cologne,” the collection is rounded out by the sweet acoustic-leaning song “Animal Noises” and funky alt-rock track “He Gets Me So High.”

Healy, Daniel and beabadoobee are not only friends, they are also labelmates and collaborators. After revealing she was working on music with the the two in 2020, beabadoobee shared “Last Day On Earth” earlier this year.

Healy posted about the song on Instagram, saying he was “very humbled to have been given the opportunity to make this record.”

If you listen closely, you can also hear Healy’s vocals on “He Gets Me So High.”

“This EP was made in a really collaborative way during a time where it was really difficult to do that and I feel so lucky to have gotten to make it with my band and Matty and George,” beabadoobee says. “I hope it can bring people together in some way, that’s really what these songs are about, that feeling of togetherness that’s been missing a lot in the last year. It feels like a bridge to what’s coming next too.”

The visual for “Cologne” follows beabadoobee and her friends as they drive around and get into trouble. With the distinct color palette synonymous with beabadoobee’s other videos and a stylish wardrobe, the visual is very aesthetically pleasing.

While it starts off lighthearted and fun, the video soon takes a turn as they engage in breaking and entering and kidnapping.

“Making the music video for ‘Cologne’ was so much fun,” beabadoobee says. “I worked with The Rest who I knew from their work with Slowthai. We wanted to make an action movie with a load of my friends so that’s what we did!”
