Beastie Boys will "never" play again without MCA

Rumors have been swirling lately that Beastie Boys would be making a return to the stage, ending a touring hiatus that began in 2012 with the death of founding member Adam “MCA” Yauch. However, surviving members Mike “Mike D” Diamond and Adam “Ad-Rock” Horovitz have reiterated their statement that the band will never reunite without Yauch.

Rumors began to emerge that the band would be returing to the stage after an application was filed with the US Patent and Trademark Office for the “Beastie Boys” name to be used for “live performances by a musical group.” However, Beastie Boys' publicity team gave a statement to Pitchfork, simply stating “There will never be Beastie Boys live performances without Adam Yauch.”

Yauch passed away from complications stemming from cancer in 2012.
