Billie Eilish, Post Malone and more earn historic 2020 BBMAs nominations

The nominations for the 2020 Billboard Music Awards have finally arrived and many artists could make history at this year’s show. Among those artists are Post Malone, who leads the nominations, Billie Eilish and Taylor Swift.

The Billboard Music Awards were originally supposed to take place in April. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the award show is now happening on Oct. 14.

Malone has earned a staggering 16 nominations in 15 different categories for the 2020 BBMAs. Following him are Lil Nas X with 13 noms, and Eilish and Khalid who are tied for 12 nominations.

Malone could make history with his two nominations in the top rap song category, which he won two years ago with “Rockstar” featuring 21 Savage. If Posty wins again, he will tie Macklemore & Ryan Lewis as the only two-time winners in the category. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis won the top rap song award in 2013 and 2014.

As well, Eilish and Lizzo are set to make some possible history at the 2020 Billboard Music Awards. Both artists are nominated for top new artist. If either wins, they will become the first female artist to win the category since Lorde in 2014.

Also, they are both nominated in the top Hot 100 song category for “bad guy” and “Truth Hurts.” Should either of them win, they will be the first female artist to win the category with a solo song, not a collaboration, since Meghan Trainor‘s “All About That Bass” in 2015.

Swift could also set some new records at the 2020 Billboard Music Awards. She is nominated for artist of the year for a record-breaking third time. She took home the coveted award in both 2013 and 2015.

As well, Lover is nominated for top Billboard 200 album. If she wins this year, it will be her third time taking home the award. She is also nominated for both top female artist and top Billboard 200 artist, each for a staggering fourth time in her career.

Panic! At The Disco and twenty one pilots are both nominated for top rock artist and top rock song. In fact, twenty one pilots have earned two nominations for top rock song for both “Chlorine” and “The Hype.” As well, Machine Gun Kelly, YUNGBLUD and Travis Barker‘s “I Think I’m Okay” is also nominated in the category.
