Billie Eilish makes history as “bad guy” snags No. 1 on alternative chart

Billie Eilish keeps staying in the headlines and for incredible reasons. The 17-year-old phenom joins incredible company today by becoming just the third female solo artist in history to have multiple No. 1 alternative singles.

According to Billboard, Eilish’s “bad guy” topped the alt charts this week, joining “bury a friend” which led the charts back in May. Both singles come from her debut LP WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?

Eilish joins Alanis Morissette and Sinead O’Connor who have claimed three and two No.1’s, respectively in the 31-year history of the list.

“O’Connor led with “Nothing Compares 2 U” (for a week in March 1990) and follow-up “The Emperor’s New Clothes” (a week that May)” states Billboard. “Morissette followed with three No. 1s, currently the mark for the most Alternative Songs leaders for a solo woman: “You Oughta Know” (five weeks beginning in July 1995), “Hand in My Pocket” (a week that October) and “Ironic” (three weeks in March 1996).

At just 17 years old, Eilish is the youngest to accomplish this feat. While the fame can certainly be difficult to deal with, especially at the superstardom level Eilish is, “bad guy” is currently No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart for the eighth week.

Eilish is currently touring and blowing everyone away with her talent. You can buy tickets for her remaining performances here.
