Billie Joe Armstrong backs Tyla Yaweh, Wiz Khalifa's Green Day sample

When Yaweh was initially recording the remix with Khalifa, he was worried they wouldn’t be able to sample the rhythm from Green Day’s “Boulevard Of Broken Dreams” for the remix of “High Right Now.”

“When you hear Wiz used a sample from Green Day we were wondering how the hell we were going to clear it,” Yaweh tells Fader. “But then, I’m on tour with Post Malone and end up seeing Billie Joe Armstrong backstage. I played him the record and he loved it and said he was gonna clear it!”

“We needed up become good friends from there and we all ended up making this iconic stoned circle shot happen!”

Armstrong took to Instagram to announce the collaboration with the two rappers.

High times with my friend @tylayaweh featuring @wizkhalifa !

The video features Yaweh and Khalifa doing their thing with Armstrong appearing in the middle of the music video.

Post Malone also makes a brief cameo in the visual.

More on Green Day

The band recently dropped their newest single off their upcoming album Father Of All… The single is titled “Oh Yeah!” The accompanying music video pokes fun at modern interactions due to the influence of technology.

The video starts as a mock tutorial with drummer Tre Cool showing us how to play the drums for ” Oh Yeah!” The man watching the video is distracted and hits Billie Joe Armstrong in his car. For the rest of the time, we see numerous absurd interactions with people, all stemming from their absorption into technology.

Armstrong pokes fun at the absurdity with the hook “Everybody is a star//Got my money and I’m feeling kinda low.” Watch the video for Green Day’s “Oh Yeah!” here.

Father Of All… releases Feb.7 and can be preordered here. Green Day will be prefacing the Hella Mega tour with solo appearances in Europe and Asia. They’ll join Fall Out Boy and Weezer in the U.S. beginning in July. Grab tickets here with the full list of dates below.
