Billy Corgan closing Chicago tea shop, despite "robust and steady" business

Billy Corgan might be known for music, but he also happens to be a lover of tea. Sadly, he's being forced to close his tea shop, Madame ZuZu's, this month.

Corgan shared the announcement on Instagram, saying Zuzu's Teahouse will officially be closing its doors March 18. “We are forced to move for various reasons which involve tenancy, but certainly nothing to do with the strength of the business (which thanks to all our great customers has been robust and steady),” Corgan clarifies.

But if you're a Zuzu's fan, don't worry quite yet. They're moving their focus to their online store for now, which you can check out here. Not to mention, he's currently in the search for a new location.

If you want to celebrate the shop before it closes, you can stop by on the 18th to give it a proper sendoff. “There will be free tea that day for everyone who comes by, and special last-day sales. (And as far as Madame ZuZu's 2.0 goes, we hope to open a new location very soon, remaining in Highland Park if possible),” Corgan writes.

Free tea? Count us in!

So, a little announcement. So for now our focus moves to madamezuzus.com and the online store, and when I'm home next around my birthday (March 17th) I will be looking at even more spaces. Unfortunately, Highland Park doesn't have a lot of ideal spots at this time, which is part of the holdup. So again, thanks again to all our patrons. You have my gratitude for your support. Of course, Corgan is keeping plenty busy with Smashing Pumpkins. The band will be headed out on their “Shiny And Oh So Bright” tour this summer, which just so happens to be their first tour in nearly 20 years.
