Black God - II EP

Black God

II EP

With no song breaking the two-minute mark, Black God’s new EP follows the rule of golden-era Black Flag—four chords, a lead riff, a pummeling rhythm section—and it comes off as smarter than it seems. Pushing into near post-hardcore territory without sacrificing any beats-per-minute, the band only pause their relentless 10 minutes of straightforward rock for intros and outros consisting of guitar feedback. It’s a smorgasbord of Louisville, Kentucky, hardcore (Black God’s members have done time in Young Widows, Coliseum, By The Grace Of God and more), and if you’re a fan at all of the region and the subgenre, you’re definitely in for a treat.  The biggest shortcoming with this EP is its brevity. The best way to get around that, however, is just to put it on repeat and let it rock over and over.
