blink-182 side-project tour has been considered, Mark Hoppus says
Hoppus revealed his hopes and dreams in a recent press conference with Radio 104.5. Originally, Hoppus was asked whether or not he would take Simple Creatures, his project with All Time Low’s Alex Gaskarth, on a blink-182 tour. However, his answer sparked something far more ambitious.
In addition to blink-182, the tour in question would potentially include Tom Delonge’s project, Angels And Airwaves. On top of that, Hoppus says he’d like to see +44 and Travis Barker’s project, Transplants all on one bill.
“We actually talked about it at one point, doing a Blink and side projects tour where we’d be like Transplants, Angels And Airwaves, blink-182, +44 and everything that anyone has ever been involved with,” Hoppus says.
However, in the press conference, Gaskarth was quick to question why the idea may not work:
“So you’d do one show, and then your voice is blown for a month after doing four sets?”
Nevertheless, a side-projects tour could still be possible, according to Hoppus.
“Take a week off to recover,” Hoppus says in response to Gaskarth. “Yeah, we’ve talked about doing things like that. I think it’d be fun.”
While the tour is far from confirmed, we can’t help but hope something like it could be in our distant futures.
You can watch the press conference featuring Simple Creatures below. For your reference, the pair start talking about the side-projects tour around the eight-minute mark.
In other blink-182-related news, Barker shared that the follow-up to 2016’s California would have the same vibe as their self-titled, and could quite possibly be the most important blink album to date.
Hoppus has since confirmed the album's "more aggressive" direction.
“It’s very different to California,” Hoppus says. “It’s a lot more aggressive. It’s darker in theme and tone. If you like California to Enema Of The State then this album is more like the untitled record where we are trying to experiment more: trying to experiment more, trying different sounds, and trying to expand upon what people think blink-182 is.”
Additionally, Simple Creatures recently dropped "Adrenaline," ahead of their brand-new EP, Strange Love.
The band also recently announced their first live shows, which you can check out a list of dates below and grab tickets for here. They’ll also be hitting the stage at Download Festival in June.
