Bob Dylan has the most punk response to his Nobel Prize win

After Bob Dylan was named the winner of the Nobel prize in literature last Thursday, the Swedish Academy behind the Nobel Prize says it has given up trying to reach the songwriter, who has not been returning their calls or emails, according to The Guardian.

The Guardian reports that he gave a concert the night he was announced winner, with no mention of the award, and though the academy said they have received welcoming replies from his closest friends, they have yet to hear from Bob Dylan himself.

So, does that mean he’ll show up to the award banquet December 10? They’re not totally sure.

“I think he will show up,” said Danius, the academy’s secretary, in an interview with state radio SR on Monday The Guardian reports. “If he doesn’t want to come, he won’t come. It will be a big party in any case, and the honor belongs to him.”

Clearly, Dylan is going to end up doing whatever he wants.

Dylan is the first songwriter to win the Nobel Prize for literature, and he’s the first American to win the Nobel Prize for literature since Toni Morrison in 1993.
