Bradley Walden on joining Emarosa: “It was a nightmare because it was so public”

In a recent interview, Emarosa frontman Bradley Walden opened up about his entrance into the band—and how difficult it was at first—and talked further about how 131 is the best record they’ve made to date.

“Things do change, but it can very much be for the better, which I think actually happened with us,” Walden tells Lancaster Online. “We ended up having our most successful record to date with this new lineup.”

Because of social media and an ever-present stream of news, Walden explains that he doesn’t think it allows a band to grow and progress naturally through change, and, in this case, a lineup change in particular.

“Before social media and such accessibility to bands, it was easy for a band to just go through a lineup change,” Walden tells Lancaster Online. “Now, everything is under close watch, and it’s under scrutiny, and you’re really watching bands grow up.”

After joining the band in 2013, he explains how “it was a nightmare because it was so public.”

But now, after being in the band for four years, he tells Lancaster Online that he feels confident as to where they stand now as a band. After releasing Versus in 2014, they feel like 131 is the best record they’ve produced to date.

“It caught the attention, and it was like, ‘Oh, OK. This band is not dead,’ or ‘This band is not on the decline,’” Walden says. “It’s the best record we’ve made.”

And he thanks the fans and the crowds at each show for continuing to show their support and encouragement.

“It took a lot of touring and getting in front of crowds and proving that the band is better than ever,” Walden tells Lancaster Online. “We’re gaining an entirely new audience, and I think it’s because we knew it was going to happen.”

Looking ahead, he’s excited to see what’s in store for the future.

“We had to get through our transition period. This band is far too talented for it to have gone to waste, and I’m very thankful to be a part of it.”

The band are set to head on a tour with Pierce The Veil and Sum 41 this summer. Check out the list of cities and dates below!
