Brendon Urie doesn’t understand why you’re all calling him Daddy

If you live on the internet (like we do), you've probably noticed the new trend of fans referring to celebrities as their parents: i.e., “YAAAAS MOM!”

Of course it's all in good fun, but on the actual celebrity's end, it can be a little strange. In our newest issue (on stands now!), Panic! At The Disco's Brendon Urie got to talk to one of his idols, Weezer's Rivers Cuomo. Somehow, the conversation got turned around to the daddy craze.

Urie: You’re right how each thing has its own persona, especially I’ve noticed with comments. Will you go through sometimes and read random comments on Vine or Twitter and how different they are from venue to venue?
Cuomo: Oh, yeah! Have you noticed anything specifically?

Twitter is more random in terms of what they’ll say with comments. When I get at-replies, it’s all over the board. Instagram seems very fixed on calling people “daddy.” Have you seen this?
You get “daddy?”

I get “daddy!” You get “daddy,” though, too, right? [Laughs.]
I figured of course I get “daddy.” That’s surprising.

I don’t know what the fixation is. It’s lost on me. I haven’t figured it out.
I’m calling people “daddy” now. There’s something fun about that. “Send me nudes, dad.” [Laughs.]

Here's hoping Rivers Cuomo actually starts calling people “daddy” now.

You can read the whole interview in AP 335, available now. The issue also features Pierce The Veil, Sleeping With Sirens, the Wonder Years and Real Friends chatting with their own idols!
