Ex-Broadside guitarist Dorian Cooke shares statement on departure
After Broadside released a statement regarding Dorian Cooke’s departure last week, the ex-guitarist has since come forward with the announcement of his own.
Previously, the band stated Cooke left “on his own accord” and that “this is not the end of Broadside.” Now, Cooke has reaffirmed those words in his statement he shared to Instagram and Twitter earlier today.

In the statement, Cooke says he plans on pursuing his other project, Neverkept. Additionally, the ex-Broadside guitarist says he wishing nothing but the best for the remaining members of his former band.

“Hello everyone,
I wanted to address the recent news personally and say first and foremost:
I am incredibly thankful and appreciative for all of the responses received for the newly released Broadside songs. Ollie and I, along with our friends Pete Adams and Courtney Ballard, worked tirelessly on both “King Of Nothing” and “Empty.” All of us involved love the positive responses to the singles even in light of the recent news.
Following the Broadside announcement, I wanted to clarify that I wish each person in the band the best and most hopeful of endeavors in their ensuing careers. They gave me life-long, lasting friendships and so many visceral memories.
I did not make this decision lightly and, though I will miss it, the time has come for me to step back and focus on other projects.
To every person who has shown support for not only Broadside but me as well, I can’t thank you all enough. The encouragement I’ve received from all of you has been overwhelming and I sincerely appreciate all the love you have given me over the years and especially over the last few days.
As some of you know, I have spent the last year working with a new project called Neverkept. I’m excited to pursue this full time, and I can’t wait for you all to see what’s next.

More on Broadside
Before heading out on their first tour of 2019 in support of Set It Off, Broadside are making sure they give their fans a little something to hold them over. The band have released two cathartic new jams that will have you falling in love with their music all over again.

“This is a song about wanting to be the best,” vocalist Ollie Baxxter says of Broadside’s track “King Of Nothing”.
“We chose this life as touring musicians but it can be painfully lonely. We all want to be heard and play to massive crowds while making enough money that our parents won’t worry about our futures. I’m so proud of our accomplishments as a band but some nights, after the show ends and those crowds leave the venue, when you’re in the back seat of a dark van, you feel like you’re not doing enough and those dreams you have become nightmares of what you’ll never achieve. You can be on top of the world and have nothing.”
The band’s second track “Empty” spins a bit of light on a broken-hearted situation with dance vibes that will make it hard for you to sit still.
“I was going through a real out of body misery when writing this song,’” Baxxter says. “The duality of a being a broken-hearted romantic splits a person. On one hand, you’ve been wronged, you should run and never look back. On the other, the rewarding time spent and memories made keep you trapped in the worrisome ‘what if this person leaves’ psychosis. I wanted to write a dance-y song making fun of how unfortunate it is to be in love, sometimes.”
Broadside will be supporting Set It Off on Part 3 of their North American run at the cities and dates listed below and tickets here. No further information on who will be playing guitar has been released at this time.
