Hear the first single from Cady Groves’ upcoming posthumous album
Earlier this month, we were hit with the devastating news that Cady Groves had suddenly passed away. However, even though she is gone, fans will still be able to hear new music from the late singer later this month.
On Thursday, it was announced that Groves' posthumous album is on the way.
Groves' brother took to Twitter on May 3 to announce that his sister had suddenly passed away at the age of 30. Following the news of her passing, artists and friends alike took to social media to share their condolences. Debby Ryan, The Summer Set's Brian Dales, Cheat Codes' Trevor Dahl and The Cab's Alex DeLeon were just a few of the artists to pay tribute to Groves.
Now, it has been announced that Groves' forthcoming album Bless My Heart will be released onto digital streaming platforms May 29. Prior to her passing, Groves had completed the vocals and overdubs for the LP. She had spent the last 14 months working on the record with the creative trust at SMACK Songs. However, the album was put on hold when coronavirus hit.
With the help of her team and Nashville entertainment brand Thirty Tigers, Bless My Heart is now finally ready to be released. Groves' team hopes that this set of songs will help those struggling during this difficult time.
"While Cady isn’t here to see it, her music is being released to cheer people through the anxiety, uncertainty and loneliness," her team shares in a press release.
Returning to her Kansas roots on Bless My Heart, the posthumous album features five songs including a cover of James Blunt's "Bartender," a reprise of her life-telling "Crying Game" and three new original songs. According to the press release, Bless My Heart is full of music reflective of the good times Groves' had during her life.
"Shining, bright, uplifting and finding the love in every single moment, it is a collection that summates a life lived to the fullest in the good times and the moments that challenge the best of us," the press release reads.
In celebration of Bless My Heart's announcement, fans are now able to hear the album's title track. The new song features Groves' country-inspired sound as she sings about looking forward to better times ahead. It is also her first song to be released since 2017's "Oil and Water."
"Bless My Heart" is available to listen to below. It is also streaming exclusively on PEOPLE.
Throughout her career, Groves hit the road with many scene favorites including the stacked 2010 Bamboozle Roadshow alongside All Time Low, Boys Like Girls, LMFAO, Good Charlotte and Third Eye Blind. Following that run, she supported the Downtown Fiction on the Let’s Be Animals tour in 2011 and Hot Chelle Rae on the Beautiful Freaks tour in 2012. As well, her duet with Dahl's former project Plug-in Stereo called "Oh, Darling" is also well known by many.
